Donnie and Patty Bunch each came from singing families, and sang locally for many years before getting married. They sang as a duet at their home church. Patty has sung with various groups before forming the Balm of Gilead Quartet in 2009, and has written over 40 songs to date.
The name was selected because the Balm of Gilead is spoken of in the Bible by the prophet Jeremiah when his heart was broken. So many people have broken hearts today and can only be healed by a touch of the Holy Spirit. Our group's desire is to usher in the presence of the Holy Spirit in song.
Members of the Balm of Gilead besides Donnie and Patty Bunch are Roslin Wilson, their granddaughter, and Meggin Hadley, who is married to James Hadley. Meggin and her husband live in Columbia, Kentucky with their six year old daughter, Molly Rae. All members of the group attend an independent church in Adair County, KY.
